If you follow me since my beginnings in fibre arts, you know this scarf means something special to me. As I was desperate to get my name noticed in the field, I did a few of those shawls and it ended to be featured in Ashford The Wheel magazine. I sold them all except this one I kept as a souvenir of this epic and memorable period. It is entirely from raw wool fleece I washed, carded, dyed and spin, some even local. Needless to say it took many hours of dedication to accomplish it. The felted collar is a blend of local alpaca with canadian locks. The knitted contains various breeds, the dark brown beeing natural wool color. Even the crocheted lace is from hand spun. Some vintage beads adorn the lace. It has ties to allow you to attach different ways, and folded as shown. See on the photos the felted part can be worn up or down depending the look you want. Warm and comforting. Well, just to let you know its a special piece you get, with my heart in every stitches. You can also see this shawl in the video La Fabrique culturelle made about me last year.

HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
