I do a very limited quantity of accessories in a year and Ocean Rose shawl is part of it. My eighth shawl of 2023. It is about 85% merino 15% silk ribbon. Tencel firestar silk thrum angelina and locks gives a rich texture. All hand dyed. Wool is all my hand spun dyed and spun by me. Colors inspired by my partner photography at the red sea.
It measures 54” X 30” (the largest length does not includes the fringes lenght so it goes below that on the torso) I take the measurements from side to side when the shawl is hanged on the wall. I provide one big safety pin to wear it in multiple ways as shown on photos. This is a light shawl suitable for summer. Please be careful when inserting the pin. If it needs to be refreshed use a steamer (no ironing!!!).

HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
