Its time to give this souvenir shawl a new home to be cherished. If you follow me since my beginnings in fibre arts, you will remember this shawl. I had many requests to sell it but always refused because it was such an epic adventure to create. As you may know, felting reduce the initial size of a project. This shawl is 90“ long, I remember it I had to remove furniture from my kitchen and extend a table up to the living room to layer the wool. It is decorated with hand spun yarn, and a crochet lace. All made from scratch, raw fibres washed, carded, dyed and spun. No commercial merino in this, so you need to appreciate the creative process to enjoy this shawl (its not merino soft).
HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
