Every year I do a limited amount of felted hats. Every each of them is unique and had is own character. Merino with silk some tencel and curls for texture. And a rose with free motion stitching.
It is on the medium firm side of felted hats.
this hat will suit medium heads ~ it measures 23.5” and will fits heads with 21” to 23” head circumference. Felt can stretch a bit if this seems a little tight for you.
model has 21.5” head circumference and the hat is ok. its a cloche it does not need to be secured around the head perimeter.
for some hats I can add a band inside to make it smaller, the fee is 25$.
I can machine embroider your name on the brim for 10$.
HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
