This tutorial will show you how I make a felted hood with horns.
I made it simple and basic. It is a project suitable for a beginner/intermediate in felt. Its a great no stress project to make with a resist, it is less difficult to do than a fitted hat, with a brim. The most difficult part is the horns. The hood is made with a resist, and its a perfect project to learn how to work with it. It is perfect to start with that style if you want to move forward others hat styles.
I felt about 35%, so when making your pattern you can add 35% to your size. It can be a bit too large as it does not need to be fitted.
I use a round hat block but if you don’t have one you can use a wig head or a round bowl. Its not necessary but it will help you.
The tutorial IS divided in 10 short clips. Total videos is about 1h40.
The video is NOT bilingual , it is ENGLISH only. There is NO captions.

HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
