This tutorial will show you how to make my typical flowers I needle felt on my hats. It shows all the steps to create a variegated colored felt sheet that can be used to cut flowers and leaves. The video includes the decorative stitching with the sewing machine and the needle felting on a hat. Note that I used the felt made in the video but also others already made previously to compose the flower shown. I joined a photo of the felted piece created in the video.
The video IS BILINGUAL english and french, I switch language in the video. It does not matter because while I talk in another language you can still watch me doing the work. . There is NO captions.
The tutorial IS divided in 9 short clips like my others tutorials. The total length of videos is about 1h40.
What you need to felt flowers

All my tutorials are hosted on youtube. You have access to it as long as youtube will exist. You can rewatch them as many times as you want.
My classes are frills free. No fancy videos tricks no fancy intros I got straight to the making with my phone camera.
HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
