The shawl measure 80” long and 30”at his widest part. The shawl took My entire table space to layout , which is 4’ X 8’ . As felt shrink the initial design is significantly larger. This piece has a more intricate and complex design than any other felt pieces I made. It took hours to make the design, and more hours to felt it. I designed the art yarn especially for this shawl, added leaves and wool locks. There is hours just for doing the leaves and yarn appliqués. This is not something I plan to do often as it is so, so much work.
This shawl is made of merino and silk.

HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
