This gypsy dress was made years ago prior I start spinning my own yarn, I was more into sewing. I kept it but I need space in my new studio for fibres. The floral fabric is a thin wool blend with body. The bodice is made of 100% french silk duchess which is one of the luxurious thick silk. I cut all the stripes to make a continuous strand and knit it. I use some mohair to crochet the frilly layer around the body. Its a very loose A line dress that can accommodate many sizes. Some leather details around the neckline and silk gauze.
HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
