There is 5 videos showing how I shape this hat with my hands without a hat block. I only use my basic block for a few seconds and you can replace it by using a bowl or any water resistant item. I don’t use blocks to shape my hats. I work from a resist pattern flat and roll first to prefelt before removing the resist.
**The layering and rolling parts are not included in the videos simply because I started filming after. Those videos are more then for non beginners.
**The flower making is not included.

HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
