Every year I do a limited amount of felted hats. Every each of them is unique and had is own personality. Merino 19 microns, curls, silver mohair.Some tencel and silk. It is on the medium thick side of felted hats.
this hat will suit small medium heads ~ it measures 23” 1/4 and will fits heads with to 20.5” 22” 3/4 head circumference approximately.
model has 21.5” head circumference and the hat fits fine. With this hat style you can wear it slightly higher on your head if the measurements are a little tight .
I suggest to take the hat a little larger than your head circumference as it is not a knit. It stretches a little but never as a knit. I can stretch felted hats on demand to extend size from 1/2 ” .
for some hats I can add a band inside to make it smaller, the fee is 25$.
I can machine embroider your name on the brim for 10$.
HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
