Every year I do a limited amount of felted hats. Every each of them is unique and had is own character. Merino 19 microns, tencel and curls.
all my fibres are dyed by myself not commercial (it takes lots of time and dye to achieve black and dark colors).
It is on the medium firm side of felted hats.
this hat will suit medium/ large heads ~ it measures 23.5”and will fits heads with 21.5” to 23”head circumference. Felt can stretch a bit if this seems a little tight for you.
model has 21.5” head circumference and the hat is loose, its a cloche it does not need to be secured around the head perimeter, it stays with weight.
for some hats I can add a band inside to make it smaller, the fee is 25$.
I can machine embroider your name on the brim for 10$.
HOW MANY SKEINS?
1 skeins: mittens wrists, accents in a hat, or in weaving, needle and wet felting
2 skeins: beanie hat, texture in a knitted scarf, cowl, neck warmer
3 skeins: short knitted or woven scarf (loose)
4 skeins: long woven scarf (woven loose), knitted scarf, small woven triangular shawl, knitted shawl
5 skeins: medium woven triangular scarf, medium woven triangular shawl
6-9 skeins: medium large triangular woven shawl, knitted shawl
9 skeins and up: small medium sweater
TIPS
Alternate rows of heavy textured art yarns with single or smoother yarns, it will keep the work lighter and showcase the texture contrasts
NEEDLES
I use Prym circular needles, because they have a special tip shape helping pick up stitches of art yarns. I also use Prym ergonomic hooks, they are amazing.
